This holiday telecommute to work

Are you able to work from home and/or while away from the office? Unless you are in retail, I think the Christmas Holiday is the best time to implement intra-office business continuity practice testing and as an IT consultant I will bring up the subject of telecommuting when rounding out any BCP-DR consulting session. I will always mention that people should be prepared to work outside or away from the office because weather events will happen.

Gawker: change your password(s)

While I’ve been following some news about how badly gawker’s web systems + user database(s) were compromised, and made public through open torrents; I have been wondering how many of my staff e-mail accounts/profiles were on the list?

Believe it or not I feel a little compromised too… my profile information was (I can expect) on the list, and apparently (1,237,900+) other profiles too. I fear the fall-out from this one incident could be for years to come. I will not even document what a bad person could do with this data.

iPad iOS 4.2 update

So far so good and some would say we’re late in upgrading but we’ve been busy. Quite honestly I have not been using the iPad much lately but wow, the iPad 4.2 update is awesome — so far as I can tell.

Apple’s proclaiming the new iOS let’s us set up and use folders and multitask with the new iOS 4.2 update. Spot on Apple, Well done.
Per Engadget the iPad’s 265MB of RAM defficientcy vs. the modern’s iPhone’s 512MB of RAM is not a factor…fortunately.
